Entered into the Wildcard category for the inaugural Huawei Snappy Awards, ‘Flying High’ was chosen as the winner by the judges having been shortlisted by the public. The photo of the kite seller was taken on Rimini beach in Italy at the beginning of September 2015. Winners of the Snappy Awards are chosen by panel of Instagram influencers and a public vote. The awards consist of 20 categories including fashion, food, the great outdoors, music and animals. Over 12,500 entries were submitted and a total of 200 images were shortlisted. It was a pleasant surprise to receive a phone call from RTE Weather that my photo for their summer competition had been chosen as a finalist for the evening weather forecast. Lazy Daisy is a simple macro snap with a narrow depth of field taken next to the river Dodder, Dublin. The photo can be seen after the evening news on RTE 1.
